So? How was it, at the
evening of
GERMAN SONGS AND MORE AT
VE?
The short answer is: “Enjoyable and
refreshing!” Most participants were familiar with the more than 40
songs for which we had texts available to each one of us. We
selected and sang about 20 of these songs and then added a few others
we knew and liked.
Sitting around a very large table in
the center of the room, we did get to know each participant.
We talked right through a scheduled mid-evening break and then
continued singing and concluded the program on time as promised. An
hour after the close of the program, the last four participants left
feeling good about their singing and the discussions of the evening.
What kind of songs did we sing? Each
participant could select one or more songs from a list which -
among others - included these: Am Brunnen vor dem Tore.
What may be needed now is a set of song
texts for 40 or more additional songs for15 to 25 participants and a
new date and time for the next “Nette Runden German Songs Evening”.
If this is done it will be the ninth such evening since 2011 when
these evenings were started and supported by interested members of the
Vereinigung Erzgebirge (VE), the Franklinville-Schwarzwald Männerchor (FSMC), the Waldesrauschen Damenchor
and Schlaraffia Filadelfia.
